While we frequently hear bed bugs are impossible to get rid of (they aren't by the way), there are some variables that can make the control and management of them very difficult. Primarily communication and information. If you live in an apartment-style building where you share walls, ceilings, floors, etc with other residents, you are constantly at their mercy. If you are the unwanted recipient of a bed bug from a neighbour, you can have your unit treated as many times as you want, by any method (heat, spray, freezing) you want, and it will only be a bandaid solution. The source unit MUST BE LOCATED AND TREATED. The neighbour may or may not be aware of their infestation (bad eyesight, negligence, sanitation, no reactions, etc) to begin with, but you are one of many people effected. This is where communication is key. Informing the strata or management company as soon as you become aware of a potential problem is vital to finding a permanent solution. The majority of strata managers, building owners & landlords DO NOT want a widespread bed bug infested building, in addition to a multitude of unhappy tenants. The math does not add up in their favour. Report the problem, confirm the infestation, find the source, treat all effected units at the same time, and stay on top of the situation by maintaining open lines of communication between all parties involved. Are Rats causing you a headache? Rats in the household are never a pleasant experience, unless you are one of the few who keep them as a pet.  As a pest problem they can trigger a lot of anxiety and stress, and rightly so.
